Looking to hire new Project Managers with a PMP?

Consider training your current staff to take the PMP Exam

  1. If you need immediate project management expertise for critical projects, hiring certified Project Management Professionals (PMP)’s might be the best solution. If you have a longer timeline, training current employees could be a better investment. Remember that the new outside Project Manager doesn’t know how your company operates.

  2. Evaluate the current capabilities and potential of your existing team. If they have strong foundational skills and aptitude for project management, investing in their training could be highly beneficial.

Benefits of training your current staff to successfully pass the PMP Exam

  1. Retention and Morale: Investing in your current employees’ professional development can boost morale, loyalty, and retention. Employees often appreciate opportunities for growth and learning within their current organization.
  2. Familiarity with Company Practices: Your existing employees are already familiar with your company’s projects, clients, and internal processes.
  3. Information continuity: Training your current staff helps integrate Project Management Institute (PMI) PMP knowledge without losing valuable internal context.

In summary, both approaches have their benefits and can be effective depending on your company’s specific needs, resources, and strategic goals. A blended strategy might provide the most comprehensive benefits, leveraging the strengths of both internal development and external expertise.

Steller Project Management and Training can provide both solutions or a combination of both by providing training, consulting and coaching before and after passing the PMP Exam based on your needs.
